HCBC COMPETITION AWARDS

There are three programs offered to showcase outstanding effort among our competitive members; Good Sportsmanship for Juniors, Volunteer Recognition, and Best Competition.

YOUTH SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

A nomination is presented to an outstanding youth exhibitor at every sanctioned competition, horse activity or club event. Nominations can come from coaches, parents, other competitors, and event organizers. Each show manager will appoint three volunteers to carefully consider each nomination
The award winner is drawn at random from all the Nominated Youth Sportsmanship certificate winners. The recipient will also receive a cash scholarship and award at the annual HCBC Awards Banquet.  Please ensure the forms are completed and submitted to HCBC before October 1st

Some examples of 'Good Sportsmanship' are:

  • exemplary care and consideration of their horse
  • polite, courteous, and helpful to others
  • gracefully accepting defeat and/or success
  • abiding by the show rules
  • displaying a positive outlook and friendly demeanor to the general public

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION

Without volunteers horse shows and club activities would not exist.  Many people sacrifice their personal and family time by contributing countless hours to make these events successful. This industry thrives because of these volunteers. As a gesture of thanks HCBC includes a volunteer appreciation certificate and pin in each show package. This can be handed out at the show committee's discretion. It is a token of gratitude for that person who is most deserving.

BEST COMPETITION

A fun and well run competition does not happen by chance.  Hundreds of hours of preparation time go into the planning of a successful competition.  In recognition of this hard work, HCBC has a 'Best Competition' award and trophy that is given out at our annual awards banquet. Each competition receives a Competition Evaluation Form in their show package. This form should be photo copied and put into each exhibitor’s package. The exhibitors complete the forms and either returns it to the HCBC office themselves or the show secretary can return all the completed forms.  All sanctioned competitions are eligible.
