BC riders took to Toronto to attend The Royal Horse Show at the Royal Agriculture Winter Fair in Toronto running from November 3rd to 12th.

Ali Ramsay of Victoria BC, had an impressive third place finish in the $125,000 Canadian Show Jumping Championship on November 4th, Ali had a clear first round aboard Hermelien VD Hooghoeve (Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x Thunder van de Zuuthoeve), her 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare. A rail in round 2 brought her score to 4.24, securing a third place finish.

Julia Madigan of Vancouver, BC claimed the 2017 National 1.40m Junior/Amateur Jumping Championship, presented by Dominion Regalia, on November 5th. This was Julia’s first time attending the Royal Horse Show and it did not disappoint, having a very successful week aboard her mount Farfelu du Printemps (Action Breaker x Darco), a 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding owned by her father, John Madigan. Julia also placed fourth in the first phase of the Uplands Under 25 Jumping National Championship on November 11th and third place in the second phase.

Megan Champoux of Aldergrove, BC and her mount Easystreet, owned by Thunderbird Show Stables, finished third in the 2017 JC Medal National Final on November 7th. Also placing was Ashley Arnoldt of Langley BC, riding Black Tie Affair owned by Jennifer Arnoldt. Ashley finished in eighth place.

Two BC riders also had top 10 finishes in the $150,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Toronto on November 8th. Ali Ramsay of Victoria BC riding Hermelien VD Hooghoeve finished in ninth, followed by Tiffany Foster of North Vancouver riding Tripple X III in tenth.

In the Hunter Derby National Championships, Brent Balisky from Langley, BC swept the Represent the West Championship, presented by the Equestrian Canada (EC) Jumping Committee. Balisky earned Champion with Wendy Valdes’ Class Act, and Reserve Champion aboard Easystreet, owned by Thunderbird Show Stables.

In the Running Fox CET Medal National Final – Overall Results placed Halle Gainey of Kelowna, BC riding Steel Magnolias in second place, and in sixth Hayley Mercer of  Langley, BC riding Can Traffic’s Green Light

Overall it was a wonderful representation of our BC riders at the Royal Horse Show and a great job by all.
