May 7, 2016 Update:

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Revisions Made to Simplify NCCP Transfer of Qualifications Process

Dear NCCP Certified Coaches,

We would like to officially inform you that a revised NCCP Transfer of Qualifications pathway will be implemented as of May 27, 2016.

After launching the NCCP Transfer of Qualifications in September 2015, EC carefully monitored and evaluated the pathway as part of our commitment to providing our dedicated equestrian coaches with efficient, convenient, and high quality services.

As a result of this monitoring, it was decided to revise the transfer pathway in order to improve simplicity and convenience for all certified coaches transferring to the new NCCP.

As of May 27, 2016, the only requirement for coaches to successfully transition from the old NCCP levels model to the new NCCP context-based model will be as follows:

  • Complete the applicable Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Online Evaluation within the first five (5) years of the transfer. The applicable MED online evaluation will be available in your Locker account.

The new NCCP Transfer of Qualifications pathway is as follows:

Old Certification New Certification Applicable MED Online Evaluation
Certified Level 1 Competition Coach Make Ethical Decision Online Evaluation – Competition-Introduction
Certified Level 2 Competition Coach Specialist Make Ethical Decision Online Evaluation – Competition-Introduction
Certified Level 3 High Performance 1 Make Ethical Decision Online Evaluation – Competition-Development

All other requirements previously publicized in September 2015 are no longer required to successfully transfer. This includes Making Head Way in Sport, In-Competition Evaluation, Emergency Action Plan submissions, and any and all other former requirements.

Maintenance of Certification and Professional Development

In addition, we would like to clarify that the Equestrian Canada Professional Development Policy will continue with a five (5) year cycle requirement. The cycle will begin upon your date of transfer to the new NCCP model.

To help improve the efficiency and convenience of tracking, going forward, the Professional Development points will appear and be tracked through the Locker. However, please make note of the following clarifications:

  • Competition Coach/Competition Coach Specialists should continue to send updates on their professional development activities to their provincial/territorial equestrian federation office or representative.
  • High Performance 1 coaches should submit professional development requirements to Bryan McSorley, Equestrian Canada Program Manager, Education (see contact info below).
  • Professional development points gathered prior to a coach’s transition date will not be reflected in the Locker. However, coaches who have already completed tasks from the previous transition pathway can expect to see professional development credits for these activities reflected in their Locker.

Thank you for your continued dedication to equestrian sport and coaching. If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Program Manager, Education
