A Review of the Challenges and Recommendations for Developing and Advancing Coaching

viaSport is conducting a research project to better understand the current state of coaching in B.C. The purpose is to explore the coaching system to identify enablers and barriers and understand the impact they have on different stakeholders within the system. The study will focus on the following areas within coaching:

  • Recruitment
  • Training and Education
  • Retention
  • Standards

How you can get involved

Your answers are important to us!

We need to hear from coaches, Coach Developers, and representatives from Local Sport Organizations in B.C. The information you provide will help viaSport in the development of a provincial strategy to support coach development.

Participate in our surveys from October 1 – November 30, 2018.

Provincial Sport Organizations, Disability Sport Organizations and Multi-Sport Organizations will be invited to participate in an interview based on an organizational framework typology. Organizations will be contacted directly by Dr. Edwards.

Privacy

All information collected through this process will be anonymized. Any identifiable information will be handled by the lead researcher and destroyed upon competition of the project.
